Success In God’s Eyes

Are you successful in God’s eyes?  I’m not talking about being debt free or having a loving caring family.  How do you handle misfortune in your life?  Many of us struggle with an artificial sense of entitlement. We assume that we have the right to be happy. We assume that we deserve the good and comfortable circumstances of life. Why? What makes us think we have the right to happiness or that we deserve anything? When things don’t go our way, we react with shock, bitterness and anger, as if our rights have been violated.

We take things like good health, adequate food, shelter, relationships and all of life’s comforts for granted. Because we experience them day by day, week after week and year after year, we think of them as rights rather than privileges.  We have no right to be bitter when life’s circumstances turn unpleasant.  So what can we do to be a success in God’s eyes?  Let’s take a look at the life of Joseph.

Joseph had been betrayed by his brothers, kidnapped, and sold.  He was thrown into prison and then found himself as a slave in the house of Potiphar.  Joseph should have lived in a state of depression and bitterness He had gone from the position of a favored son to that of a lowly slave. But Joseph did not let his circumstances dictate his life. He refused to succumb to depression. Instead, he diligently set his hands to his work and quickly won the confidence of his new owner.

From where did Joseph find the inner strength to rise above bitterness? Most people cannot seem to let go of past wrongs, real or imagined. They wallow in self-pity and anger, holding on to old resentments. This seems to be a normal human reaction to misfortune and conflict. Someone like Joseph, who could shrug off even the worst of circumstances and make the best of whatever situation in which he finds himself, is exceptional.  Could we ever become an exceptional person like Joseph?  Most people would say no, but God says YES!!

Joseph had an unshakable confidence in the goodness and faithfulness of God. He knew the stories of his fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He knew the promises that he stood to inherit. He did not suppose that God had forgotten or abandoned him. Instead, he humbly submitted himself to God’s higher purpose.  Because of Joseph’s steadfast confidence in God, he possessed an undying optimism that transformed even the low estate of slavery into success.

We just need to follow Josephs’ example in becoming a success in God’s eyes.  In order to do this we MUST start by spending time in God’s word, learning His ways and understanding His promises and our inheritance for His people.  So YES, we CAN be a SUCCESS IN GOD’S EYES.

The Fast Way To Shredded Chicken

My favorite thing to use in recipes right now is shredded chicken.  I don’t know why it’s taken me this long to discover this… LOL!!  I know the fastest way is to go to Sam’s Club or Costco and by their rotisserie chicken and shredded it, but a household budget will not always afford that.

I like to buy the BIG 10lbs. bags of frozen boneless skinless chicken breast at Costco.  I have found this recipe works very well if you are cooking for just one night OR you can add more chicken breast and do a marathon cooking over the weekend for dinners next week.  Here is what I do.

In a stock pot I fill half way with water and I season the water with salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper.  I bring the water to not quite a full boil, just till I see some rolling bubbles and I slide my frozen chicken breasts (3 to 6) in the water, cover with a lid and I turn my heat to low (it’s like cooking rice).  I then set my kitchen timer for 30 minutes.  After it rings, the chicken is done!!  I then shredded and make my dish or dishes.  Easy and not very messy.

One of my favorites to make is Chicken Chili.  I can cook 6 chicken breast on Sunday and pre pare the meals for dinners next week, which makes life really easy when you have 2 kids in college, 2 kids being homeschooled and one hungry Dad!!

If you are needing ideas on how to use the chicken go to pintrest and do a search for shredded chicken recipes… WOW!!!

Gear Up Your Children

Have you ever watched a coach or parent teaching a child the proper way to put their gear on so that they can be protected while playing the game.  They explain what each piece is for and how important it is to the child and how they must practice putting the gear on right so they can be protected for what is to come.  A coach will NOT let a child play in the game if they don’t have on all their gear.

So why as parents, called by God, do we allow our children to go out unprotected.  Why are we not teaching them about God’s gear {The Armor of God}.  Why are we not teaching them about each piece of “God’s Gear”, how important is to have each piece on everyday.  We should NOT let our children leave the home until they have put on God’s gear.
This is an excellent lesson that needs to be taught in family worship time.  If your children are smaller you can make the pieces of armor together and if they are older make a nice poster that they can hang in their closets.  This was every time they get dressed in the morning they are reminded of God’s Armor that needs to be put on!

Ephesians 6:11-17

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against b]’>[b]in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

How To Clean Your Ceiling Fans

Are you tired of getting a face full of dust when you clean your ceiling fan?  Are you tired of having tons of gross clumps of dust that you have to clean up below everything that is under the ceiling fan?  Are you tired of having to balance on a ladder with cleaners while cleaning the blades of the ceiling fan?  Well I’m here to bring you a FABULOUS tip that will make cleaning your ceiling fan a BREEZE!!

The secret weapon…a pillow case.  That’s right a pillow case.  Simply slide each blade, one at a time, into a pillowcase and wipe off the blade with the inside of the pillowcase. All the dust, dirt, and debris will stay inside. Then simply shake out the case outside and throw it in the laundry bin.  I shared this tip with my girls and when they did the ceiling fans they couldn’t get over how EASY it was to do and WOW, the ceiling fans are ALL clean in a matter of minutes!

On The Go With Baby

When I had my first two children it SEEMED that I could be prepared to go at a moments notice.  I always had the diaper bag ready to go.  My problem was finding my keys…LOL!  It NEVER failed when I was ready to leave I always had to have my two year old help me look for my keys.  I finally discovered the value of installing a teacup hook on the wall next to the phone and putting my keys there.

Sixteen years later I had two more children and it seems like it takes me FOREVER to get everyone ready to go.  My mother-in-law bought me two diapers bags to help me.  Now I have a diaper bag packed whenever I need to zip out the door!  The key to success is to make sure to restock the bags…LOL!  Something simple yet when not done can lead to failure.

Everyone has different ideas and needs when it comes to packing a diaper bag.  Women who bottle feed will pack in a different manner than a woman who breast feeds.  I have found that for me I like to keep a stash of diaper in my van just to be on the safe side.  Now that I have a toddler in potty training, I like to keep extra clothes in the van as well.

I found this darling idea on Pinterest and wanted to share it with you all.  I just LOVE this idea and what a great gift this would make.

The Quick Change Bag.  You can find the detail on how to make this darling gift here… Amy Power’s Inspire.  You can use your imagination to fill these bags with anything for baby.  Make a Quick Meal Bag for baby and fill the bag with what you need to feed baby.  The possibilities are endless!

Do You Know The Muffin Pan? Muffin Pan Taco’s

With Summer here I’m mot a BIG fan of spending hours in a hot kitchen {I’m not a fan of spending hours in the kitchen when it’s not hot}  I want to share with you a new recipe today called “Muffin Pan Tacos”.  These little guys are super easy to make and FULL of flavor!

If you have not heard of muffin pan  meals, get ready to become one with the muffin pan.  I love muffin pan meals for they are easy to make and you have INSTANT portion control {which I LOVE}.  Also, if you have a picky eater you can easily adjust a recipe to accommodate that.  Serve this with a side salad or rice.  These make SUPER fun party food as well.

I like to omit the ground meat {I limit my red meat in my diet} and use black refried beans instead.  This makes a BIG difference when you are watching your weight.  So let’s get started and get you hooked on muffin pan meals!!

Muffin Pan Tacos
1 pound ground hamburger
½ onion, diced
1 large jalapeno, diced
¾ cup water
Seasoning mix (see recipe below)
12 flour tortillas
2 cups shredded cheese
Shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes for topping.

–Cook the ground hamburger thoroughly, drain and return to a clean skillet.
–In a separate skillet, saute the diced onion and jalapeno and add it to the hamburger.
–Blend in the seasoning and toss to coat.
–Heat the mixture on high and add water; reduce and let simmer on med/low for about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
–Cut 4-inch diameter circles out of the flour tortillas. A standard margarita glass is about the right size for measuring and a pizza cutter gets the job done quickly. (Bake the leftovers for extra chips.)
–Wrap tortilla circles (3 to 4 at a time) in a wet paper towel and microwave for 30 seconds to soften.
–Mold the circles into a lightly greased muffin tin.
–Add a layer of shredded cheese in the bottom, add about 2 tablespoons of meat mixture, then top with cheese.
–Bake in a preheated oven at 350ºF for 20 minutes.

When they’re done, just pop them out and add your favorite toppings, including lettuce and tomato. Add a dollop of salsa, fresh or jarred, if desired.

Seasoning Mix
(for 1 pound ground beef)

1 Tablespoon flour
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon ground cumin
¼ teaspoon oregano
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepperpinch of salt if desired

Getting To Know Luci Simple Secrets For A Happy Life

If you are wanting to know Luci better this is a perfect book for that. After reading it you feel that you know her a little better. The title is VERY good, but this is not the key that will unlock the “secret” to making your life happy. Most of her chapter headings would make a great start in build the blocks you would need to get your life organized and moving toward to better life, but it’s really up to YOU to make your life happy. This would make a great coffee table book for the chapters are short. It’s an easy read but she leaves you hanging as far as helping you start some of these habits in your life. What do you do when your parents were not great role models? How would you tell a person to start taking the steps to getting their life on track with their Lord. What if you are not a student who loves to do homeworkers, what steps would you share with them to help them get motivated or getting organized. This is where the book lacks.
